Mapping Climate Change Refugia in Pennsylvania
1. Model the current and future (2050) locations of groups of rare plants in Pennsylvania that are considered to be impacted by climate change. For the purposes of this project, the areas of overlap between current and future locations, as well as novel locations exhibiting the required habitat requirements, will be called “climate refugia.” 2. Examine how future locations of the groups of rare plants (“refugia”) overlap with protected areas, climate resilient areas of Pennsylvania, high priority geophysical settings, and landscape corridors prioritized for climate change connectivity to determine whether different groups of plant species are likely to be more or less impacted by climate change in Pennsylvania.
