Assessing Secretive Marsh Bird Breeding Populations and Habitat Associations to Implement Conservation Actions at High Priority Wetlands in Northwestern Pennsylvania
This study investigated secretive marsh bird populations and habitats at three wetlands on State Game Lands (SGL) 213 and 214 in Crawford County: Conneaut Marsh, Hartstown Marsh, and Pymatuning Complex. Goals of the study were to provide PGC with a current inventory of marsh bird species at SGL 213 and 214; update Biotics database; inform wetland management to benefit marsh birds. This study's objectives included estimating site occupancy/abundance for priority birds at 2 large wetland complexes; evaluate probabilities in response to habitat characteristics and human disturbance; predictive models of occupancy; recommendations for management actions.
