Effects of Marcellus Shale Gas Exploration and Development on Forest Bird Communities - A Pilot Study
This pilot study provides baseline data on methods of assessing the initial response of the bird community to changes in forest habitat associate with Marcellus exploration and development. Initial results suggest that the bird community is changing at the local level as edge species and generalist become more abundant near well pads and forest specialists become less abundant. Whether this will have a larger effect at the landscape scale us unknown at this time.
