Complex interactions between two species of flying squirrels in Pennsylvania: Direct implications for conservation of norther flying squirrels
The northern flying squirrel (Glaucomys sabrinus), now declared threatened in Pennsylvania (as of 2007), is a habitat specialist that is closely tied to conifer forests, which in Pennsylvania, include red spruce (Picea rubens), balsam fir (Abies balsamea), and eastern hemlock (Tsuga canadensis)...We will provide a final report which includes results and a projection for future studies as well as a statement on recommendations for management and conservation that follow from the research.
