Investigators from Penn State Altoona College, the Riparia wetlands research lab at Penn State University Park, and the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service's Northeast Fisheries Center conducted a survey of emergent infectious disease in green from tadpoles found in wetlands throughout the state of Pennsylvania. In 2013 and 2014, we used molecular genetics techniques to screen tadpoles for ranavirus and the chytrid fungus Batrachochytrium dendrobatidis from 12 naturally occurring reference wetlands, and 12 human-created mitigation wetlands.
