Red Spruce (Picea rubens) restoration in Pennsylvania: habitat restoration for northern flying squirrels (Glaucomys sabrinus) and other conifer-dependent wildlife species of conservation concern
In 2012, we partnered with the Pennsylvania Game Commission to initiate a pilot red spruce restoration and monitoring project modeled on a similar effort in West Virginia. Our project aimed to re-establish and expand red spruce in and around critical northern flying squirrel habitat in Pennsylvania.
